Tell Kwasi: #StopJackdaw and invest in energy efficiency

Shell raked in a record £7.3 billion in the first quarter, amidst astronomical rises in energy bills for households.

While Shell was busy exploiting the planet for profit, people across the UK were facing a cost of living crisis. Now, Shell is trying to push through Jackdaw, a new oil and gas field in the North Sea.

The government needs to introduce a windfall tax on Big Oil's record-breaking profits and then use that money to make people's homes much more energy efficient. Opening up new oil and gas fields in the North Sea is a massive distraction that won't help struggling households and will only drive us deeper into the climate crisis.

Thousands of people are tweeting at Business Secretary Kwasi Kwarteng demanding the government reject plans for Jackdaw and introduce a windfall tax to invest in energy efficiency - will you join them?
